Rust :

When a piece of Iron is left out in the open  for while a film of brownish substances gets deposited on its surface  called Rust.

Reason

4Fe + 3O2 + 2H2O ------------------->  2Fe2O3 • nH2O

The Iron reacts with  water and oxygen to form hydrated iron(III) oxide, which we see as rust.


how to prevent it:-

  • Keep away from water/moisture.
  • Apply A protective coating.  ( painting ).
